The client requires a walker to ensure safety outdoors.  The handle height on her walker is too high for her to use safely – in other respects the walker is suitable for her use.  The requirement is to lower the height of the handles.

The Challenge

A simple solution is possible to help this client.  By drilling an additional hole in the handle post, the handles can be lowered past the standard minimum height.  The hole drilled on each handle post is shown in the photo, and the second photo shows the handle in its new lowered position.

Since the centre of gravity is lowered this does not negatively impact the stability of the device.

The solution

Holes were drilled to accommodate the height pins in the frame.  These were positioned so the handles would be at the correct height for the client.

The benefit

The client is able to use the walker safely and comfortably to maintain her mobility particularly outside with her family.
