Relocated Wheelchair Hand Control
The client only had small hand movement, no arm movement, the movement control for hi electric wheelchair was mounted as usual at the side of the chair which he could no longer reach. He could not talk and only communicated using a tablet and stylus, his brain was fine and he wished some level of independence.
The solution
A frame was made, bolted to the arm supports of the wheelchair, readily detachable using quick release fasteners, carry a central support for the wheelchair movement con
trol and a side support for the tablet holder mounting tube. Provision was made to enable easy conversion back to the normal controls for his carer.
The benefit
Client can now easily control and move his wheelchair without help and achieve more independence.
