Shortened bed rail
Our client has a hospital profiling type of bed at home but was struggling to transfer to his wheelchair unaided, and needed another strong supporting rail in addition to the two standard issue support rails he already had for this type of bed. A reduced height rail is commercially available but this still wasn’t low enough.
The solution
Harrogate and Ripon Group engineer Brian Wood took another standard issue rail obtained by the client’s OT, cut it down to the desired length, created steel inserts to join the tubes, and then brazed them together again, and spray painted the rails to complete the job.
The benefit
This was a much faster solution than fabricating a rail from scratch for this type of bed.
