A client with MS loves to swim for exercise and to help her condition but could not access the pool with conventional steps which were too steep. The ability to swim greatly improves her mobility and general well being. Norman Hurst, a long term Remap volunteer, manufactured a set of steps to meet her needs. The client was extremely pleased with the outcome.

The solution

Longer steps with a shallow angle makes entering the water possible. Manufactured from welded steel tube with wooden treads and stainless hardware.

The benefit

Now able to swim on a regular basis and enter the pool without difficulty

I love the pool access steps that Norman Hurst was able to make up. My other half has recently had knee revision replacememt carried out ( and historically ankle fusion).. access to and from our pool has other been possible. I’m struggling to find steps that are shallow and what Norman did looks to be perfect. Could I contact him?

Hi Peter, thank you for your comment. If you think your partner could benefit from something similar to Norman’s solution, please complete our referral form with a bit more information, so we can see if one of our volunteer engineers is able to help: http://www.remap.org.uk/help
