Commode Seat
The child commode provided by the OT was too small for the client, and ordering a bigger one would have taken too long.
This project was time critical due to child receiving end of life care.
Remap was asked to modify the commode seat to make the aperture larger in order for it to be adequate for use by this child.
The solution
The client was receiving end of life care. The child commode provided by the OT was too small for the client, and ordering a bigger one would have taken too long.
Remap replaced the plastic seat with a new one made for the purpose, with a bigger orifice. It was cut from MDF, shaped and smoothed, and painted with oil-based white gloss paint to give a hygienic, washable surface, In view of the urgency, construction was finished in two days from receipt of item, and it was delivered three days later after the paint was dry.
A week later the commode was returned for modification. The seat was lowered and the commode pan was raised, to eliminate a gap between them.
The benefit
Child able to use equipment available, facilitating care.
