Poop Scoop Holder for Wheelchair User with Assistance Dog
This client required a holder for a poop scoop on his wheelchair when he left the house with his assistance dog.
The Challenge
The client required an attachment for his wheelchair to secure the poop scoop for his assistance dog. The client has restricted movement, so requires the scoop to be accessible and easily held on the chair.
There was nothing commercially available. Considerations were ease of use, no hard to operate clips, and good visibility of where the scoop is stowed away.
The solution
The engineer made a small holder that slips into a bracket on the wheelchair. The ends are red and he attached some small wood stops to the scoop. This gives a visual indication and also stops the scoop dropping out of the holder. Magnets were stuck inside the scoop to keep it located on the holding bracket. The engineer didn’t want to use clips as that would be a fiddle for the client.
The benefit
The client is now able to clean up after his assistance dog, giving him peace of mind.
