Umbrella mounting for wheelchair
Our client who uses a powered wheelchair needed an (opened) umbrella mounting so his hands are free to make him independent.
The Challenge
The client was not able to hold his open unbrella while using his wheelchair and it was difficult for his carer. A rigid mounting was required on his wheelchair.
The solution
A 300 mm length of aluminium tubing was clamped to an elbow rest with a special bracket, set at the correct angle. The tube internal diameter was a good fit for the umbrella handle.
The benefit
This solution allows the client’s hands to be free. This means he can stay dry whilst also maintaining his independence.
